I've never posted a blog before, so this is going to be interesting. I've been told to just say whatever come into my mind. I found that to be a very dangerous thing to do. However, since this website is all about my art, I suppose I should write about my art. It might be interesting to see what goes on in my head when I create some of my Strange Critters. It's been said, it my mind must be an fun place to visit. Maybe. We could see what goes on in there, but I'm not really sure I know. Stuff just seems to flow from my brain, down through my left arm and onto a blank piece of watercolor paper. A question I'm often asked is 'Where do I get my ideas for the Strange Critters' It's not always a simple answer. I draw all the time and I also look for interesting shapes to play with. I start with that shape and see where it leads me. It might take a couple of sheets of sketches before I find the critter inside. It's a fun process. My other art is more 'traditional, you know, landscapes, beach scenes, flowers and the occasional animal. The old saying, 'paint what you like', really is true for me. I've painted challenges with subjects I never thought I'd ever paint and some of them actually turned out pretty good.
So now this is my first blog entry. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next.
